The Journey Begins

The Journey Begins

SHE Centre began as a whisper, a longing in the heart of Resty Kansiime Agaba, shaped by a lifetime of witnessing the quiet strength and unspoken struggles of women. Raised by women and educated in all-girls schools, Resty grew up surrounded by the resilience, sacrifice, and silence that often define the lives of East African women. These early experiences planted a deep desire in her to help women, though she didn’t yet know how that calling would unfold.

A Whisper
Becomes a Calling

In 2020, during a deeply personal season of isolation and soul-searching, Resty encountered God in a transformative way and began her own journey of healing, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. As she processed her pain, rediscovered her voice, and reconnected with purpose, she realized how many women were carrying similar invisible wounds, unanswered questions, and untapped potential. What began as journaling, prayer, and quiet reflection quickly grew into a calling: to build a space where East African women could heal, be seen, and rise into their full identity and purpose.

The Awakening

By 2025, what had started as a quiet, personal calling had grown beyond what Resty could carry alone. She reached out to her best friend and trusted confidant, Joanita Kazibwe Nazziwa, who had witnessed the earliest prayers, constant messages, and whispered hopes.

Joanita wasn’t just a supporter; she was a builder. With her steady presence and deep belief in women’s transformation, joining forces was less a choice and more a natural alignment.

Together, they said yes, not just to a platform, but to a movement honouring their stories, their mothers’ sacrifices, and their daughters’ futures. A movement grounded in faith, friendship, and a fierce commitment to see East African women rise whole.

🛠 Building the Platform

Academic Excellence & Research Insight

Resty holds a Master’s degree
in Political Science from the University of Cologne and a Bachelor’s in International Relations from Makerere University. Her work has centered on women’s healing and leadership, grounded in
both academic rigor and lived experience. She has contributed to research with organizations like USAID, focusing on school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV)—a role that deepened her passion for creating safe, inclusive spaces for girls and women. Through podcast conversations, fieldwork, and devotional tools, she continues to explore how faith, healing,
and policy intersect in real women’s lives.

Strategic Expertise & HR Leadership

Joanita holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Makerere University and an Intermediate Diploma in HR Management
from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She has over a decade
of experience leading initiatives in HR operations, learning and development, recruitment, and performance management—helping organizations grow through people-first strategies.

A Future-Ready Vision

Both Resty and Joan are passionate about lifelong learning and sustainable
impact. Joan continues to expand her skills through
global certifications in HR and project management. Resty is preparing to pursue a PhD focused on women’s flourishing, using the SHECentre platform
as a core part of her research. By combining insights from
podcast interviews, community engagement, field data, and spiritual formation, she aims to create evidence-based tools
that empower East African women to heal, lead, and thrive. Together, they envision SHECentre as a transformative ecosystem where stories meet strategy—supporting women emotionally, equipping them practically, and amplifying
their voices academically
and globally.

In 2025, Resty reached out to her best friend and longtime supporter, Joanita K. Nazziwa, to join her as co-founder. Joan had been walking alongside the vision for years—encouraging, praying, and offering her expertise behind the scenes.

A highly skilled Human Resource Practitioner, Joan brings over a decade of experience in learning and development, recruitment, performance management, and HR operations. With her sharp strategic mind and deep heart for women’s empowerment, she was the perfect partner to bring SHECentre into its next season.
