Inspired by Stella—a resilient mother in Karambi, Uganda, who faced decades of systemic neglect—the SHE Sacco Initiative is moving beyond one-off charity. We are building a foundation of mental health support, financial literacy, and sustainable business tools to ensure women no longer have to struggle in silence.
The Heart of the Mission: Stella’s Story
Every mission has a heartbeat. Ours began with Stella.
Stella raised our founder, Resty, with a mother’s devotion. But behind her care lay a life of "quiet, unrelenting hardship." As a teenager, Stella gave birth to her daughter, Kajumba. Due to medical negligence, oxygen never reached the baby’s brain—a tragedy the nurses never explained.
Today, at 28, Kajumba lives with a lifelong disability. For nearly three decades, Stella has carried the weight of caregiving, poverty, and a collapsing small business—compounded by the pandemic and a lack of financial systems to catch her when she fell.
The Reality in Karambi
Stella is not alone. In the village of Karambi (Fort Portal, Uganda), countless women are battling the same systemic failures. They are resilient and full of potential, yet they are trapped by a lack of tools, mental health support, and a "poverty mindset" that feels impossible to break.
We refuse to watch them suffer in silence.
Our Solution: The SHE Sacco Initiative
This is not charity; it is an investment. The SHE Sacco (Savings and Credit Co-operative) is designed to give women the structural support Stella never had.
