Karamoja Girl Education Initiative (KAGEI)

KAGEI is a nonprofit in Karamoja, Uganda promoting girls’ education, youth empowerment, and women’s rights through school sponsorships, vocational training, and community engagement. The organization advocates against harmful cultural practices, supports reproductive health and child protection, and equips vulnerable youth with skills and opportunities to thrive.

Karamoja Girl Education Initiative (KAGEI) is a registered community-based nonprofit in Uganda dedicated to advancing girls’ education, youth empowerment, and women’s rights in the Karamoja region. Established in 2018, KAGEI provides access to primary, secondary, and tertiary education, vocational training in areas such as ICT, entrepreneurship, and garment design, and scholastic support for children and youth from vulnerable families. The organization engages communities and local leaders to challenge harmful cultural practices like early marriage, promote gender equality, and ensure equitable access to essential services, including health, education, and social welfare. Through advocacy, child protection, reproductive health programs, livelihood support, and cross-cutting initiatives addressing HIV/AIDS, gender mainstreaming, and climate change, KAGEI empowers children, girls, women, and vulnerable youth to build skills, knowledge, and resilience for a brighter future.
